Coordinated by the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (France), COESO (Collaborative Engagement on Societal Issues) is a European research project funded under the “Science with and for Society (SwafS)” programme of Horizon 2020. It was conceived to engage European citizens in research through a series of pilot case studies spanning different disciplines, social themes and forms of civil society involvement across several member states — Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany and Belgium.
The objective is to build effective cooperation between science and society, attract new talent to science, and connect scientific excellence with social awareness and responsibility. In short: a productive dialogue and active cooperation between science and society, aimed at ensuring more responsible research and enabling the development of policies that are more relevant to citizens.
Within the project, Net7 will contribute to the development of VERA (Virtual Ecosystem for Research Activation) — a platform conceived as a facilitator for the production and sharing of knowledge, designed to activate, simplify and support participatory Citizen Science projects for the small teams typical of SSH research, where a high level of interpersonal interaction is central to the work.
