The goal
Transform a monumental print anthology of contemporary Italian poetry into an engaging digital experience, capable of attracting audiences beyond academia — including those discovering contemporary poetry for the first time. Create a digital “Memory Palace”, a Wunderkammer where scientific and philological rigour meets a sensory and emotional journey through more than 300 poems from the post-war era to the present day.
Our response
A digital exhibition that digitalises over 300 poems with their English translations, enriched by multimedia resources (photographs, artworks, videos) and interactive environments with a highly evocative visual language. A flexible navigation system articulated in four macro-areas — Discovery, Chapters, Authors, Timeline — where every element is interconnected to build personalised discovery journeys through contemporary Italian poetry.
Information architecture and visual storytelling
The structure of the digital exhibition is a constellation of interconnected elements: immersive scenarios created with the Revolution Slider Pro editor evoke specific cultural periods metaphorically, while linear navigation through chapters and authors interweaves with a timeline linking works to historical events. The colour palette combines neutral tones and golden reflections on a dark background, evoking an atmosphere of refined nostalgia poised between the museological and the vintage. The typography – Spectral for immersive reading and Archivo as a sans-serif complement – builds the project’s literary facade.
Philological fidelity and intuitive editing systems
The site is built on WordPress using the Gutenberg block editor and Revolution Slider Pro for the immersive environments. The digital transcription of texts fully respects the anthology’s stylistic identity, preserving the bilingual nature of the source material and the original editorial standards. The editing system ensures easy maintenance and opens opportunities to expand the digital exhibition over time, adding to Net7’s two-decade commitment to Digital Humanities and support for the open education and open science movements.
